User friendliness
One of the most important objectives in the
development of Macola ES was to improve user friendliness. Users
should experience working with Macola ES as quick, easy and
appealing. The new Macola ES interface delivers on all of these.
Because recording transactions occupies a lot of your time, Macola
ES's user interface has been designed so that you can work
intuitively, efficiently and easily.
User friendly
screens Screens have been reorganized to improve the user
experience. Close attention was paid to field arrangement and how
users navigate through them. Providing the quickest path through the
fields will save users time in their daily interaction with the
software. Key information like customers, vendors and order numbers
are in bold at the top of the screen and clearly visible to the
user.
In this version, Exact Software North America even
consulted with user interface experts to streamline screen design
and user navigation. The result is an intuitive efficient interface
that compliments its robust functionality.
Macola ES lets
you change your entry screens, and turn off unnecessary fields by
user so that these do not have to be filled in, thereby increasing
the entry speed.
Various menus In Macola ES each
user chooses their preferred menu layout so that it is as user
friendly as possible. A process flow approach has been taken in
organizing and simplifying the menus. It allows you to get to the
most frequently used selections quickly and easily with fewer mouse
clicks. Maintenance applications that are used only during initial
setup of the system are moved to a separate menu grouping called
setup.
Users can choose from three menus:
 |
The 'Panel Menu' provides direct insight into the available
functions and their relationships. This menu also allows use of
the various key combinations. This is the default menu.
|
 |
The ‘Explorer Menu’ functions similar to the Windows Explorer.
|
 |
The 'Classic Menu' uses shortcut keys that aid keyboard users.
|
In Macola ES everyday processes like entering sales
orders, sales booking reports, printing pick tickets, packing slips,
shipping and invoicing are organized sequentially to depict the
process flow of an order.
Role menu The role menu
is a standard selection of functions within Macola ES that are most
often used by a person with a specific role within a company or
department. For example, the accounting person posts entries and the
order entry person enters orders. It is easy for these employees to
have the commonly used functions defined within the role menu. Time
is no longer wasted looking for the right function in the menu
structure, rather they can get to these quickly using the role menu.
Screen tips In addition to the menu bars, a
variety of visual aids are also used. These allow you to detect
changes immediately. Mandatory fields are highlighted in red if a
field is skipped during entry. This helps alert the user of data
entry mistakes.
Screen tips in Macola ES provide extra
information about entry fields. When a field is skipped, in addition
to it being highlighted in red, a tool tip unveils a descriptive
message indicating the action that needs to be taken. No longer does
a user need to be frustrated when a screen forces an entry but does
not tell you what action or field to adjust. It is very intuitive
with Macola ES.
When existing information on a screen is
changed, a pencil icon is placed beside the field and the text
inside the field turns blue. These are additional user friendly
functions that indicate a field has been changed - saving the user
even more time.
Rights structure All employee
information is now stored in one place, simplifying system
maintenance. A new feature of Macola ES is the ability to assign
roles. These roles make it possible to establish standard function
profiles and link them to employees. Different employees need
different rights. Roles allow you to create rights linked to a job
description and assign them to a new employee quickly and easily.
The introduction of roles and the role menu allow more efficient use
of the functions available within Macola ES.
Entry via
keyboard All the work you do within Macola ES can be done
either with the keyboard or with the mouse. Shortcut keys allow
system users to navigate the system using only their keyboard.
